Career Development Professional

REQUIREMENTS

  • Apprentices aged 16 to 18 at the start of their training are required to achieve Level 2 Maths and English qualifications, or GCSEs C/4 or above to complete their apprenticeship, if they do not already hold suitable equivalent qualifications. For those aged 19+ at the start of their training, study can also be funded up to an approved Level 2 in English or maths or both, achievement is not mandatory and employers can choose to opt out.
  • You must be working in an educational/advisory setting with particular emphasis on careers guidance.
  • This is a graduate level, work-based qualification to develop your skills and knowledge in the workplace and you must be able to complete work at this level. For those working in professional roles providing career development to clients and applying career development theories and models to support clients making realistic and informed decisions in their career journey. e.g Working in educational settings, Schools, Colleges, Training organisations, Careers and Employment services and HR/learning development departments in both the Public and Private sector
  • ‘Off the job’ training must be provided (509 hours)
  • Support from an employment mentor with regular reviews.

CONTENT

  • Mandatory completion of OCR Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development; - this consists of 7 Mandatory units and then an Optional Unit selection https://ocr.org.uk/qualifications/vocational-qualifications/career-guidance-and-development-level-6-diploma-04664/
  • The 7 Mandatory Units are;

    1) Preparing to work in the Career Development Sector
    2) Reflect on and improve Professional Practice
    3) Career Guidance and Development Theories and Models
    4) Agree the purpose of Client Centred Career Interactions and maintain communication with clients
    5) Explore and agree the Career Guidance and Development needs of clients
    6) Use Career-related Information with clients
    7) Work with other agencies for the benefit of clients and own organisation
  • You will be developing your Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours throughout and continuous professional development as well as adhering to relevant legislation and regulations.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

  • Blend of taught workshops, Tutorials and Self-directed learning and application in an employment supported environment
  • Assessment in the Diploma is completed via set Assignments, Worksheets, Work Products, Workplace Observation, Professional Discussion, Witness Testimony. For Observations in the Workplace (this will be of delivery of Personal Guidance Interactions and any other relevant evidence).

APPRENTICESHIP ASSESSMENT

  • Portfolio of evidence to demonstrate achievement of Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours and Completing an assessed Professional Discussion (90 minutes) with an external Assessor
  • Completing a Work-based Project in the workplace and submitting a project report to be assessed by an External Assessor.
