LEVEL 2

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship

REQUIREMENTS

  • Apprentices aged 16 to 18 at the start of their training are required to achieve Level 1 Maths and English qualification, with Level 2 attempted or GCSEs C/4 or above to complete their apprenticeship, if they do not already hold suitable equivalent qualifications. For those aged 19+ at the start of their training study can also be funded up to an approved level 2 in English or maths or both, achievement is not mandatory and employers can choose to opt out.
  • Working with age group 0-5 years old.
  • 12 months on programme and 3-month window for End Point Assessment.
  • ‘Off the job’ training must be provided (300 hours)
  • Support from an employment mentor with monthly reviews.

  • Exploring roles and development opportunities in early years settings
  • Child development from birth to 7 years
  • Safeguarding babies and young children in early years settings
  • Supporting health and safety in early years settings
  • Promoting wellbeing in early years settings
  • Supporting effective communication in early years settings
  • Supporting activities, purposeful play and educational programmes
  • Understand how to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
  • Working with parents, colleagues and other professionals in early years settings

ASSESSMENT METHODS

  • Taught session at Gateshead Interchange weekly. Thursday morning’s, 9:30-11:30 term time only.
  • Observations in the workplace.
  • Professional discussions.
  • Witness testimonies completed by mentor.

APPRENTICESHIP ASSESSMENT

  • End Point Assessment will take place in the final 3 months, dependant on learner progress. End Point Assessment will consist of:

    Professional Discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence.
    Knowledge Test
